About Us - Steve and Carole Eilertsen

Caz and I on our first BMW 650 on our first two week motorcycle tour. Yep, that was a case of "fools rush in where angels fear to tread" - but we made it home in one piece! We sadly sold this stalwart motorcycle with 96 000km on the clock - it was a great bike and an old friend. Caz, three months pregnant on our last long tour before Josh arrived. The famous tree in Limpopo province hints at our tour reports on this website.

Caz and Josh. Caz is a graphic designer hence the great Photo-Shopped, black and white pic of Michael below. She is the ultimate travelling companion whether riding pillion on the dirt, riding her own bike in the twisties or sitting in the sun next to the pool while I go riding, one more time!

Joshua getting used to sitting in the sidecar of the Ural. He is an "off-roader" already and would rather walk through the garden and over the rocks than take the path.

Caz and I on our newest motorbike, a Ural Tourist 2006 model made in Siberia, Russia. It was bought to accommodate Joshua so that we can maintain our biker lifestyle (well some time in the future!). Being slow it will have to be used in conjunction with a car and trailer as South Africa is a big country.

Over 20 of our friends and family have bought motorbikes since we started touring. This is a big responsibility but it's all here, laid out for them to read so that they can bike well and safely. This is my sister Sally and her best friend Marinda

This is my daughter Charisse. Yep, and no motorcycles here. She is at Pretoria University and is all about student life, student life, student life . . . we're a passionate family!

My son Michael and I on his first motorbike tour. He also likes the wind in his hair so he also owns an Audi TT convertible.

My ultimate motorcycle on a long, dusty off-road tour i.e. BMW GS1100 (with a custom paint job). I believe this to be the best all round motorcycle ever built i.e. for touring, power, speed, payload, pillion, on-road, off-road, commuter, comfort, weight and classic value - it has it all. I aim to put 250000km on it before I consider a new motorcycle.

Yep, it's all about bikes, South Africa, touring, photography, writing and the people you meet and the encounters you have.
